Every article here answers a question a customer actually asked us in a driveway. If a claim has a source, we link it. If it does not have a source, we leave it out and say why.

Nine articles, no filler
Most garage door blogs are the same nine hundred words rewritten by somebody who has never wound a torsion spring.
These are written by the people who do the work: Dale Whitmore, hanging and servicing overhead doors since the mid-1990s, and the technicians who run our vans. Each piece starts from a real call — a door that reversed at the floor, a spring that let go at six in the morning, a homeowner who wanted to know whether the Village needed to see a permit.
Three rules. Numbers get a source you can click, and we prefer the primary one: the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the DASMA technical data sheets, the NWS Chicago climate normals, the Census. Where the trade repeats a statistic with nothing behind it, we say so in the article instead of passing it along. And where the honest answer is “call the Village and ask,” that is what we print.
